eager to hear about your LG experience, comparison with Maytag (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for your comments. I'm really eager to read your opinion of the LG model that is replacing your trial Maytag model. My husband and I were just out last night comparing the Maytag and LG ice/water through-the door bottom freezer units and not yet reaching a decision. Years ago, we bought the first year Maytag Neptune washer/dryer combo that had problems and wonder if this new refrigerator will have similar first year kinks to work out. At first, I was only going to look at units with ice makers in the bottom freezer compartment but I really like the idea of having ice available without having to constantly bend over since I have some back pain from lifting heavy patients in the hospital daily. At this stage of life, (kids all grown), the only reason I'd be frequently in the freezer would be to obtain ice. RIght now, Maytag and LG are the only 2 models I've found in local stores that have such design. I like the bottom freezer drawers in the Maytag better than in the LG but I really liked accessibility of the LG's ice unit and easy way it dismantled from inside the door instead of the Maytag's unit that was located in the corner of the freezer. The Maytag also didn't have a crushed ice option and the LG did. The LG didn't have the "deli tray drawer/shelf" that Maytag has and I wondered if it was that valuable. I think just having any type of long, wide shelf (available in all bottom freezer models) on which to place a lengthy platter, will be great after all of these years of narrow shelving in my side-by-sides. I'll be watching for your review and comparison!
