We had been waiting for this model and purchased it as soon as it came out. So of course being one of the "oldest" owners ours was out of warranty when the circuit board went bad. Same story as everyone else .. flapper started flapping on its own, lights blinking like crazy, fridge doesn't keep cool (although freezer seems unaffected).

Called Maytag, they first they just said too bad. Then I found all the stuff on the internet about this and called back and they agreed to cover parts only. That was last Tuesday and A&E (warranty repair) couldn't be here until Monday (today) almost a full week later. He called before he came this morning and said he didn't have the part because he had to fix two of the same models for the same reason last week and his truck was not restocked yet. He ordered the part to arrive on Wednesday.. and he said to call Maytag back and complain because they are covering the labor in most cases as well.
He did tell me how to disconnect the panel on the door to stop the flapping. There is a screw in top hinge for the left hand door. You have to stand on a chair to see it. Unscrew it and lift the cap, under it is a connector that powers the panel on the door. Once I disconnected mine the flapping discontinued and the fridge got cool again.
Called Maytag back and third time, they agreed to cover the labor as well. I guess three phone calls was worth the several hundred dollars it saved but its still aggravating that I had to call three times and ask for what I wanted rather than just having them do the right thing.
We love the frig but won't be buying another Maytag or a "new" model ever again.
Up until the day it went bad we had been somewhat happy with this model. The ice maker has issues, it makes long blocks of ice that don't get broken up the way they should and it jams the dispenser. It also can tend to produce too much ice and overfill the drawer making it push out. But these are things we were willing to live with. The fridge itself is great. It has lots of room and the wide drawer is fantastic. The bottom freezer has lots of room and overall it's perfect for my very tall husband, he can finally see what's in the fridge.
I have to say the delay in repair combined with their ad campaign for the Maytag man doing other jobs because he's so "not busy" aggravates me no end. If you're going to brag that your products are so good they don't need repair then you better make darn sure they are... and if not ... don't put together an ad campaign showing a repair man that I can't even get to my house for 7 days!
