Pros: Nice style, easy to use. Large load capacity. Program to run load later.
Cons: Residue on dishes, noisy, washing cycles too long.
I purchased this dishwasher under recommendation by Consumer Reports as the "best all around dishwasher" in comparison to price, features, sound level and the ability to get the dishes clean. Considering with tax and delivery this dishwasher cost over $535.00 approximately 1-1/2 years ago; I don't think I would purchase a Maytag dishwasher, if I was to do it over again.
I agree with the other reviewers about that "Greasy" stuff that acculmulates at the bottom of the dishwasher near the door. I thought that was a problem I was only having. The dishes and the cutlery on the bottom rack always come clean for me. The problem I have is the top rack. My coffee cups and glass tumblers are often left with food residue on them. Then, I only have to soak them and hand wash them anyway. I've tried cleaning the sprayer arms, but I never seem to find anything in them to clean out. I agree that the only wash which does a better job is the heavy cycle and it is about two hours long. The regular was is ok if the dishes are barely, (and I mean barely) dirty with food residue prior to washing.
I have also tried increasing the water temperature at the water heater and changing around the detergent. I personally have found cascade powder works the best. The gels aren't as effective. Also, I have found using a rinse agent helps with the water spotting.
I had a Bosch prior to this dishwasher. If it wasn't for the fact that a repairman was very hard to get for a Bosch appliance, I would have kept my Bosch. When it ran, (I had a repairman out three times in 6 years), it was wonderful. Very quiet and very efficient with soap and water. Hence, that is why I did not purchase another Bosch Dishwasher.
