Pros: This dishwasher holds a lot, even big stuff. Great touch pad.
Cons: The middle of the lower rack's fewer tines poses small bowl placement dilemmas.
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't purchase this product if I had to do it over...too many little problems.

| trice's Full Review: Maytag MDB7600A Jetclean® II 24 in. Built-in ... |
My new dishwasher and I got off to a great start. I bought it based on a good Consumer Report's report. I needed the quiet operation and tall tub with lots of flexibility promised. I found a great deal on the exact model I wanted at Home Depot, of all places. I love the sleek front that doesn't scream "wash me" and the easy-to-use and very logical touch controls. With a family of 6 to wash up after, I needed a workhorse that I could run every day without fail.
My Maytag is quiet, as promised. It seemed to be doing a great job cleaning, too. In the first 3 months one of the little plastic clips that hold the large utensil-holder flap out of the way when not needed (in the far back right side of the machine on the top rack) snapped and it started to be a nuisance, flopping down on me.
Six months into its use other problems started. First, there were those icky, crusty leftovers found after the dry cycle. I was usually finding these in the back corners of the top rack on the glasses. I started to feel as if my dishes were not really clean. Then the clouding started.
I first noted clouding of clear glass ware. I threw out a bunch of older glasses and replaced them. When I started noticing clouding and (horror!) chalky residue on the new stuff I began to be alarmed and began to doubt the brand. I experimented with different detergents and tried different amounts of detergent. Thus far I have not found the perfect solution.
I have had my dishwasher a year now and my stainless steel looks awful. It is streaky and cloudy. I am frequently emptying 10 plus pieces into the sink as I empty the "clean" dishwasher and having to remove leftovers and chalky residue by hand. I found something hard (could be a popcorn kernel left by the kids) stuck in the end of the top washer arm just today and removed it. I hope that at least some of my problems will now disappear.
