| minngal's Full Review: Maytag MDB7600A Jetclean® II 24 in. Built-in ... |
My husband and I have been shopping for a new Dishwasher for the last couple of month, and just wasn't sure what we wanted. We've gone to a few local appliance store, and one of them wanted to push the the Bosh, and/or the Miele dishwasher, and we both just could not cough up the extra cash on them!
Went to Sears, and the saleman wanted to stick with the Kenmore Line, and didn't bother to show us the other.. I did look at the Maytag, but he pulled us back to the Kenmore. A friend of ours has a Kenmore in her home, and she just not crazy about how the silverware sits in the door, and only get half-way clean and also it's kinda loud.. So we thought we'd take a break from shopping and do some reserch on the dishwashers..
Came Christmas with family and Friends... We gotten a few gift cards from family and friends. (in-laws gave us large $$ amount) being that my husband loves shopping at Home Depot, we took a trip out to the store to buy something with the gift card, and we walked by the Appliance area, and I told Eric "Why don't we check out thier appliances out.." So we walked over and saw they had Maytag, Jenn-Air, GE, and Hotpoint appliances. John, the salesman, came up with a nice smile, and greeted us, and had no sign of sales pressure! He took his time and showed us the diffrent modles of dishwasher, as he was showing us the Maytag, one customer said, "It's the best, go for it". John said the same too.. Maytag new dishwasher is the way to go if you want a good dishwasher for the price. We went ahead and brought the dishwasher with the gift card we gotten.
We retired the 8 years old GE dishwasher that was loud, and didn't clean very well with this new Maytag. The install took us about a half hour to do, and the install book did a pretty good job of showing the steps by steps.
The dishwasher has the following items..
Odds and Ends basket - holds miscellaneous items including knives and pointed items
Cup/bottle holder- hold lightweight plastic items and cooking utensils in place.
Upper Front-Right side racks with folding shelves, and great for odd size things like our coffe pot!
Split & Fit- silverware basket splits into two halves for more room if you have more plates than silverware.
Bowl tines on the lower back-right side of the rack. It's set up for you stand bowls on it's side, and save room!
Hard food disposer, Chops up food from the filter, and dispose of down the drain.. (Lot of the Expsensive dishwasher you had to clean the filter yourself!)
Filter system- prevents food particles from redepositing on dishes, Just scrap off the left over on the plates, no pre-wash/rise is needed!
Tall tub offers more room for dishes in a single load, this dishwasher holds 14 place settings.
Three wash arms provide thorough spray action above and below each rack. Maytag uses a small size water jet opening.. Kinda like your pitching off the end of the garden house to spray the water farther, and stronger.. Also, nice thing is the upper wash arm is recessed up into the cabinet, and not going to hit the dishes on the upper rack..and more active cleaning jets than any other brand
Adjustable rinse-aid dispenser - to adjust quantity according to water hardness
It has a touch pad controls add style and convenience and remaining time countdown display
Control Lockout - prevents accidental changes or starts when you have small children.. Just hold the "Heated dry" button for 3 sec, and will lock, or unlock the control pad.
Extra Rinse option - additional rinse improves results in hard water situations, I've not used this at all..
Auto Clean cycle - adjusts cleaning cycle according to how clean or how dirty dishes are by using the Precision Clean turbidity sensor, and I use this all the time! you can see the time changes when it drains.. if the water is very dirty, it will run longer, or if it's clean, time will shorten up.
1-9 hour timed delay of dishwasher, and I may use that in the summer months to help save on the A/C.
ToughScrub option - softens and removes tough, dried-on foods
Sanitize option eliminates 99.9% of household bacteria that may be on dishes, and it will be a plus to have when the cold/flu season starts.
Five wash cycles - Heavy, Normal, Light, Auto Clean and Rinse Only
Automatic temperature control assures proper hot water temperatures to activate detergents, and we do have our water heatet set low to help save money.
The dishwasher is QuietSeries 300 model, and it runs very quiet, just hear it when it drains. Also it is an enegry star, and got $50 rebate from our local power company.
One thing I know I will like about this dishwasher is that you can remove the whole upper rack from the dishwasher to wash that tall cooler, or stock pot.
The upper rack is adj, You can bring it up to give you more room in the lower rack for heightwise. Also, on the upper rack, you have room to put plates up there as well on the right hand side.
All in all, this dishwasher looks great in our kichen! The front door has this full door look, and don't have the ulgy crack between the door, and toe-kick.

Update :-)
Well, after having this dishwsher for about 4 months, we are VERY happy with it. It sure was put to a test last week/end with family in town staying with us for 5 days. Everything that is made for dirty dishes wash put into this dishwasher, and came out clean! My sister in law is a neat freak, and she was freaking out when I was NOT pre-rinsing the dishes! hehe I told her to settle down, and see for yourself when it's done. She didn't know what to say after the load was done! :-) Easter Sunday was the biggest load it got, we had 40 people here for dinner, and no paper plates, or plastic silverware was used! Some of them could not get over how quiet it was vs our older dishwasher, and how much work we had it put into it getting the dishes "ready" for the old dishwasher. The new one, just scrap the plate clean, and load it.
