I had so many problems with this Maytag dishwasher while it was still under warranty, that the repairman asked Maytag to dub it a lemon and just replace it with another one. Maytag declined, so the repairman continued to come and repair jets, motors, and anything else that could go wrong until the warranty ran out. I was, of course, given the opportunity to spend a large sum of money to extend the warranty, but decided that I'd just let it go until the bitter end of this piece of junk, and then replace it with a dishwasher that actually gets the dishes clean and does not malfunction so often.
I used to swear by Maytag, but when I built my house 4.5 years ago and bought new Maytag appliances, I noticed the quality of their products has declined. I just replaced my Maytag washing machine from the same era. It did a fine job of cleaning clothes while it lasted, but suddenly completely kicked the bucket a few months ago. In my book, less than 5 years of service is not an acceptable timeframe for a major appliance.
