blseconman's Full Review: Maytag MDB5601A 24 in. Portable Dishwasher
This is the 2nd Maytag I've owned and I've had trouble with both. The first I owned for about 2 years, with some minor issues along the way (broken handle, funny noises and smells form the motor, and the child lock not working properly.) However, all of that stuff was repaired and things worked well for the next couple months until I moved.
After moving into a new house, I got another Maytag dishwasher, this same exact model. I did this because I figured that perhaps the first one was just a lemon and because I really liked the options it had to offer. Well after just a couple of months with the new one, I started having problems again. Most of them minor, like the door handle breaking again. But most recently, the drain pump gave out. If I had to do all over again, I would spend an extra couple hundred bucks and gotten something a little higher quality, something that will at least get through the warranty period without something going wrong.
Anyway, I agree with a previous review: Maytag used to be a good company, but now it seems their appliances (at least the ones I've owned) aren't worth it.
Spend a little more money and get something that will last longer than just a year.
