Bought the black version of this model a month ago. Burner grate is very poor. Enamel came off while I hand washed with a SPONGE! Called customer service and they were completely unhelpful. Having read other reviews, the customer service representatives appear to be alumni of HMO insurance claims reviewers. They assured me that damage on the grill top is cosmetic and not of the company responsibility. I asked them if hand washing with a sponge is too strong. They repeated the party line of cosmetic.
I have taken the Maytag reputation for granted. It is my fault for not doing more research on a critical appliance in the kitchen. Having read more Maytag customer reviews, I would be surprised that Maytag will be around in 10 years. Has any one seen the Maytag man commercial- the one that shows him to be bored and lonely? No? That's because the new Maytag man is working his behind off servicing all the defective Maytag appliances out there.
