My husband and I recently purchased our first home. The washing machine was the first major appliance we had to replace.
We shopped and shopped through endless mazes of washing machines. We chose the Maytag Performa based on load capacity (we have 3 messy children!), price, and brand name.
First, we needed an extra large load capacity. When I do laundry, I don't want to have three loads of darks when I can get them done in one!
Second, the price was competitive with other brands we thought were just about the same in quality. We didn't want to spend a crazy amount of money and I feel we didn't. We ended up paying $337.00 (without delivery).
The Maytag name has always stood for exceptional quality. I am happy owning an appliance that I can trust won't break down in 3 or 6 months or even a couple of years from now.
The appearance of the Performa is also very nice. The functions are water size, which allows you to adjust to any level, not just low medium or high. Also water temperature and it has three cycle settings, regular, permanent press, and delicate.
When the Maytag Performa is in a spin cycle, you can't even hear it! You literally have to almost put your ear on it to see if it's still running! It is just so quiet. I can't open the basement door to hear if it's still trying to "take-off" like my old one did!!
This is our first Maytag appliance and I hope to own many more. I would highly recommend this washer to anyone. It is a great buy for your money.
