When I make marinara sauce I always use a goodly amount of Italian Seasoning. The sauce just doesn’t taste the same without this wonderful spice. My favorite brand of Italian Seasoning is easily McCormick Italian Classic Herbs Seasoning.

So aren’t all brands of Italian Seasoning the same? Not in my experience. We have many different brands on the pantry shelf, but I always grab my McCormick Italian Classic Herbs Seasoning when I am making marinara.
There are only seven ingredients in McCormick Italian Classic Herbs Seasoning: marjoram, thyme, rosemary, savory, sage, oregano, and basil.
Now, with such a simple list of ingredients it would be quite easy to mix my own blend of spices. I have tried this over the years, but the sauce just doesn’t come out the same and I never get the classic flavor in my marinara that using McCormick Italian Classic Herbs Seasoning gives me.
My marinara recipe:
1 pound ground beef
1 jar Ragu Spaghetti Sauce
2 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
1 15 ounce can chopped tomatoes
1 small can tomato paste
Directions: Fine chop green pepper and onions. Brown ground beef, green pepper and onion until done. Pour all tomato products into a large pot. Add the ground beef mixture. Cover the entire top of the mixture with a good amount of McCormick Italian Classic Herbs Seasoning. Simmer for about an hour and then enjoy!
Flavoring marinara sauce is not the only thing this spice can be used for. The container also suggests other ways to use this spice, such as adding to oil and vinegar salad dressing, sprinkling on pizza, or seasoning meat prior to cooking.
McCormick is a brand that has been around for a long, long time. I have never experienced poor quality or been disappointed in this product. The Italian Classic Herbs Seasoning is always consistent and always imparts a delicious flavor to my marinara sauce.

A small container of McCormick Italian Classic Herbs Seasoning is available for under five dollars and it is well worth every penny. I highly recommend it. I also recommend purchasing the smallest container possible to ensure that the herbs retain their freshness. A container will last us approximately a month.
