Pros:It is an incredible product. Absolutely worth every penny!
Cons:Smell is pretty bad, must be consistent with application for it to work
The Bottom Line: Buy this product! You will not be sorry.

I first hear about Mederma a few years before it became popular. I had worked in a hospital where the doctors were prescribing it to patients in the E.R. and burn units as a way to reduce the appearance of post-op scars and unsightly wounds.

Right around that time, I found out I was pregnant. One of my first thoughts were," Oh God,I wonder if I am going to get stretch marks?"

Ok, so 9 months later, I have a baby (beautiful baby girl 9lb4oz)and realize that my stomach looks and feels like an all-terrain road map. I had deep marks from where my skin had stretched and it was discolored....It looked like bright red veins had surfaced on my stomach. I am not exaggerating....its really embarrassing to admit this but you will see why I am doing so.

I started to use Mederma after a pharmacist friend suggested it. At that time, Mederma was not being promoted as a product that would heal stretch marks, but I figured since the 40 gallons of cocoa butter I used as a preventative measure didn't work, it would be worth a shot.

So I begin applying Mederma to my skin religiously four times a day. You have to really rub it in to get good results. No, I am not talking deep tissue massage it in, just very firm.

After about three weeks, my skin felt a little softer and looked a bit less red. Remember, I had some pretty ugly, red marks on my skin. But I kept on applying it. After about 6 weeks I began to see a change in my skin.It was less red and didn't feel so pitted. Two months into this I was standing in front of the mirror on day and for the first time I wasn't absolutely grossed out by the appearance of my stomach. After about 3 and a half months of usage, the scars were no longer red. Instead most them were a pale pink color.

By the time I was halfway through the second tube , my skin had returned to almost normal.I could barely see where the stretch marks had been and in some places they were gone.If I turned a certain way, I could see a few of the deeper stretch marks but the cream significantly improved the appearance of them.

This cream really does work. At the risk of sounding like an infomercial..it is truly a miracle cream. It delivers what it promises. This cream is capable of erasing the pain (I am talking emotional/psychological) and embarrassment of stretch marks.

It is best to use it as soon as the wound is healed or right after delivering a baby. The earlier you treat the scar, the better the results.I waited almost 10 months before using Mederma, but that was only because that's when it was suggested to me. Had I know before then, I would have been applying it on my way out of the delivery room.

Ok now the bad part about Mederma. The cost. 28 dollars for a 1oz tube. And then there is the smell.I can't even begin to describe it but suffice it to say it will be unlike anything you have ever smelled.
But if you are anything like me, you would fork over the cash for a product that really worked restored your physical beauty. And when you started to see the results, you would welcome the smell with every application.

Ingredients: Water (purified), PEG-4, onion (allium cepa) extract, xanthan gum, allantoin, fragrance, methylparaben, sorbic acid.
(I think the bad smell is from the onion)

I have also used this product on a scar my daughter had right above her lip and the scar is just gone.
Mederma works offers better amazing results on newer scars so start using it as soon as the wound is healed.

Mederma isn't recommended for pregnant woman so ladies don't think you are gonna try and be sneaky and start application before the baby is born.

There is a generic that is available for about 10 dollars less at places like Walgreens. It works the same...trust me.
