I am Asian and suffer from adult acne. I use AHA and Retin-A which help decrease the breakouts I get. They also increase skin turnover, which helps the acne scars fade more quickly than they did before I started them. However, I still have anywhere from 1-3 pimples on my face on any given day (depending on the time of the month) and end up with hyperpigmented scars or spots after they resolve. I also am prone to getting mosquito bites and end up with hyperpigmented spots from them.

I started using Mederma two weeks ago. I usually only get it on once per day. Even in that short amount of time, I have noticed that it has helped fade both new and old acne spots on my face, neck and chest. Additionally, it has started fading spots from mosquito bites that I have had for nine months on my stomach. I have not noticed it making me break out more in the areas I use it on my face.

I can't really speak to the effectiveness of Mederma on raised scars, as I have been using it primarily on hyperpigmented spots that are not particularly raised.

The scent is very light and I don't find it offensive at all (it doesn't smell like onions).
