Mederma. miracle scar cure?
Written: Jul 15, 2007

Pros:Actually works!!!!
You can barely feel it on your skin
Cons:Takes a long time
can't use overnight
The Bottom Line: Get it, but don't expect it to work instantly. It works gradually over time.
I have a small scar above my lip and the redness contrasted my fair skin quite a bit. It didn't seem to be fading any time soon and I knew it would take a few years for it to gradually fade. Maybe even longer. So I got Mederma expecting to see no results in the first month (as most of the reviews I read said it takes 3 to 6 months). Boy was I surprised! After a few months of seeing no signs of healing without Mederma, then using Mederma and watching the redness fade and the scar smooth out in weeks was incredible.
Now of course it wasn't totally gone, maybe 50 or 60 days of applications and it would be gone... but none the less it was a definite difference. At the end of every week you can look in the mirror and recognize a true gradual change from the previous week. I highly recommend this product to anyone, it seriously works. BUT! Listen to my next words very carefully because they are really important.
A few nights ago, I put it on overnight. NEVER do this!!! Please listen to me. I beg you. If you do put it on overnight, make sure you rub it in extremely well and there is nothing left to coat your skin. To be safe, just don't do it. When I woke up the next morning, I looked in the mirror to see that my scar magically VANISHED with some slight redness 'around' the scar. I didn't know what to think at first, but when I touched it, the Mederma application had somehow stuck to my skin instead of flaking off. I guess because my face was on my pillow and there was nowhere for the Mederma to come off. When I moved my upper lip around, it felt as if I got a mild burn or maybe a deep pimple starting to form where the scar was. I removed the Mederma application to find my skin red, scar went back in time a month, and it felt like the top layer of the scar almost tore off with the Mederma. It was really strange and I didn't expect it considering Mederma is very thin and flaky after it sits on your skin for a while. So now I have to reapply it, and have to reverse the damage that was caused. Essentially, I wasted a month of using it, and now wasting a month fixing what it did. Please listen and do not use overnight. You can use as many times as you want during the day though. You could use it 100 times during the day and you wouldn't notice any problems.
Regardless of this problem. Trust me, it really does work. If you are hesitant about it, don't be. I have found though, that as I apply it to an older scar on my hand, it has had very minimal results compared to my new scar on my face. It might be coincidence. But it seems to work extremely well for newer scars, and not so much for old ones (even though it says it works for both). Just use it 4 times a day, rub it in and leave a coat on your skin and presto, scar fading miracle in a bottle. Oh, and it smells nicer than people say, trust me, I have to put it on directly under my nostril.
