Pros: You can make the cream soups into crackers and take them with you. Yum!
Cons: You either like the soups or you hate them...I don't like them as soup.
The Bottom Line: The cream soups are good when made into crackers; the other soups are not good in any form to me except chicken noodle.

MEDIFAST SOUPS COME IN SMALL BOXES
The Medifast diet plan makes it necessary to purchase Medifast meal replacement supplements such as Medifast soups, bars, shakes, drinks, puddings and eggs. The 5 and 1 Medifast plan is the one most typically followed and involves 5 Medifast meal replacements, 1 lean and green meal and an optional snack.
THE MEDIFAST SOUP
Mefast soups come in small blue and white boxes that include seven white paper packets that contain premeasured soup mixes that you mix with water to the desired consistency you like. It is best to mix and heat these in the morning and let them sit in the refrigerator until you reheat them later in the day; this allows the parts in them to soak up the water instead of being so chewy and yucky. The mixing instructions are listed on the side of the box along with serving suggestions that might include the use of spices or bits of vegetables. The following flavors may be purchased on Medifast's website at www.medifast1.com:
The following soups are lactose and caffeine free: Chicken Noodle (yummy), Chicken and Rice and Maryland Crab.
The following cream soups contain whey and are low-lactose: Cream of Brocolli, Cream of Chicken and Cream of Tomato.
The following soups are caffeine free, formulated for diabetics and lactose free: Beef Vegetable Stew and Chili.
The soups are okay; I've tried all of them except the Maryland Crab (eewww crab). The best ones are the cream soups which only taste good to me when they are made into crackers (others love them just as they are). You can take any of the cream soup mixes and combine them with enough water to make them slightly runny. You spray the bottom of a microwave safe pie dish with non-stick spray, spread the soup mix around, sprinkle on a chili or similar seasoning and microwave until no longer gooey in the center (2-3 min.), then you flip and microwave for 1 minute; remove from pie plate and wait for it to cool. This method not only tastes great, but it is so easy to travel with it during the day and they can be made several days in advance.
THE MEDIFAST PLAN
Medifast offers more meal replacements than just soups. The selection includes items such as chocolate pudding, hot cocoa, raspberry tea, peanut butter bars, apple cinnamon oatmeal, and scrambled eggs. The traditional Medifast is a 5 & 1 plan which involves your choice of any of the 5 Medifast meal replacements (1 bar per day is the exception) and a lean and green meal. You eat every 2-3 hours during the day and drink a minimum of 6-8 glasses of water.
The Medifast weight loss site lists many different success stories with pictures so you can see the results for yourself. The results are stated as ‘not typical' because the majority of dieters just dabble in weight-loss while waiting for some kind of miracle. The plan works if you follow the plan 100%, which translates into exercising, changing your lifestyle and taming your food demons.
WILL I HAVE TO CHOKE IT DOWN?
You may have to choke it down. It seems that people either love or hate the soups. Most add seasonings to them to provide them with something other than the bland taste of the soup. They taste like their names to a degree, but the textures are kind of strange - lots of soy bits in the chicken noodle for example. The cream soups made into chips are my favorite since the soup made normally to me is not something I can eat because of the weird texture. The chicken noodle is quite good; has to be soaked for a few hours before reheating it to eat. The Beef Stew, Chili and Chicken and Rice are too chunky for my tastes. Like I said, you either love them or hate them.
ARE THE SOUPS WORTH THE PRICE?
The boxes cost $15.50 plus shipping/handling and include 7 packets of soup mix. I would stick with the cream soups made into crackers since they are so easy to take with you wherever you go during the day not to mention that they are like eating yummy chips while still staying on plan.
If you only ‘wish' to lose weight and you don't want to actually commit to being on the Medifast plan 100%, skip Medifast because it is too expensive. If you want to commit yourself to a new, healthy, active lifestyle and you need help in the weight loss department, Medifast provides you with a simple, easy to follow plan. The meal replacement options are varied and the plan may be easily followed by people in most ages and stages. The plan works as long as you work the plan.
