Pros: Easy to pack along for the day; no mixing or preparation required.
Cons: Expensive at $16.25/box of 7; you'll want to eat more than one per day.
The Bottom Line: The bars are so good and so easy as far as a meal replacement option. They are like having an off plan cheat treat. Yum.

MEDIFAST BARS ARE TOO GOOD!
The typical Medifast meal plan is the 5 and 1 plan which translates into 5 Medifast meal replacements and 1 lean and green meal. Medifast offers meal replacements choices such as bars, shakes, soups, oatmeals, puddings, eggs and hot and cold drinks. Medifast also has Momentum and AntiOxidant products such as flavor infusers and drinks.
YOU ONLY GET ONE BAR PER DAY
Medifast bars come in skinny green boxes that include seven bars of the same type covered in green wrappers. There is no mixing or shaking involved. The only caveat with the Medifast bars is they are higher in carbohydrates so you only get one per day at the most; shame really because five of these a day would be awesome. The Medifast bars have diabetic formulations as well as regular bars. The following flavors may be purchased on Medifast's website at www.medifast1.com:
The Regular Bars: Carmel Nut, Peanut Butter, Fruit and Granola Nut, Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Mint, Lemon Yogurt, Chocolate and S'more Granola -- $16.25/box of 7 bars.
The Diabetic Bars: Chocolate Crunch and Peanut Butter Crunch -- $11.95/box of 7 bars.
All of the bars I've tried are really good; especially the carmel nut bar which tastes more like a candy bar than a diet bar. The peanut butter bar quenches my need for a peanut butter fix during mid day, the chocolate mint is crunchy and minty, the chocolate bar is smooth and the lemon yogurt bar has a bite of lemon to it that makes it tasty. I prefer the diabetic version of the peanut butter and chocolate bar because they cause me to crave sugary treats after I eat them like the regular bars do. Medifast bars are only allowed once per day and you need to eat them earlier in the day; early afternoon at the latest.
THE MEDIFAST PLAN
In addition to the Medifast bars, there is a dark chocolate antioxidant shake, chocolate ready to drink shakes, banana pudding, cream of chicken soup, cranberry mango and scrambled eggs. On the traditional Medifast 5 & 1 plan you eat every 2-3 hours during the day and drink a minimum of 6-8 glasses of water in addition to choosing five Medifast meal replacements; only 1 bar per day though.
The Medifast website lists many different weight loss success stories which provide you with inspirational photos and stories whether you have 40 or 100+ pounds to lose. The plan does work if you follow the plan 100 by exercising and controlling your food cravings.
The boxes cost $16.25/box + S/H for the regular bars and $11.95/box + S/H for the diabetic bars. The boxes contain seven bars each of one flavor and are good enough that you may have to learn to control your cravings with them. If you have sugar craving triggers, then you may want to try one box or possibly avoid the bars altogether.
Medifast requires 100% commitment if you want to be in the small percentage category of success stories. If you only ‘wish' to lose weight and you're waiting for some miracle to cause you to drop the pounds, Medifast is far too expensive to just experiment with. Medifast offers its users a mymedifast website which puts past, present and near future (you need to have placed an order) users together to offer inspiration and create a sense of community during your Medifast weight-loss journey. There are boards of every kind from nutritional support to teams offering challenges and support.
Medifast is an easy to follow full service weight loss program that will help you meet and possibly even exceed your goals if you are truly ready and committed to the Medifast plan as written.
