| jiastar's Full Review: Paul Mann - Meet My Monster |
Meet my Monster is a beginning reader title put out by Fisher-Price. In it we meet a young girl and her pretend friend, who just happens to be a hairy blue monster. But don't be scared, he's really quite friendly. In fact in Meet my Monster we spend a delightful day full of fun with the pair.
This sweet tale is told is rhythmic rhyming verse over 27 illustrated pages. It is geared toward first and second graders, but even younger readers can benefit from following along as Mommy or Daddy reads it aloud.
Special Features:
A chart and star-stickers for the child to track how many times they've read the book "on their own"
Bright colored illustrations and large print make this easy and fun to read
In the back of the book you can find 6 learning activities which will help you reinforce the new words and reading concepts your child has just learned.
My One Complaint:
This is a book put out by Fisher Price, and I noticed that the illustrations which show pictures of the little girl's toys show their products : including their View-Master, their Dollhouse, their Inline skates, etc. Perhaps I am overly sensitive, but I felt that this was a sneaky and underhanded way to "advertise" in the guise of a storybook.
