Pros:wonderfully offensive and funny, good bit characters
Cons:Really offensive, poor production value
...is how most of the people who I've shown this to have described this movie. And that's one of the reasons I love it. Some movies would use a situation like this to satirize the Muppets or society or whatever, but Peter Jackson opts instead to go for the gross out. Personally, I think the movie's better off because of it.
Naturally, the movie centers around the Feebles, the cast of a hit variety show about to make its television debut. Fortunately for us, the cast is full of sex-starved drug addicted psychopaths. That little fact provides all sorts of fun and thrills. Plot is secondary compared to the gore, bodily fluids, and puppet nipples sprinkled generously throughout the movie.
Scenes to watch for: the junkie Vietnam vet's flashback, including a nice Deer Hunter parody; the stage director's last minute musical number; and of course, the final showdown.
For a film to be so blatantly vulgar and downright offensive, you can expect that it was made for less money than the it took to but the director's car. Meet the Feebles is no exception. The production quality is pretty poor, and the effects are lacking at best. The budget quality of the film doesn't take away from the message: this movie is messed up.
I recommend you get a bunch of people together and show this movie. Watch the other people in your group as much as the movie, their reactions are sure to be classic. It's better to wait until you've seen it once to get the full effect of people's reactions, but no matter. The Feebles are sure to cause uncomfortable laughter where ever they go.
