Pros: Removes fine scratches and diminishes larger ones for a fraction of an auto body shop.
After allowing two of my children to borrow my car, on separate occasions, each of them returned my car to me with scuffs and scratches. I was happy no one was hurt, but was disappointed with the wounds my car suffered.
I bought Meguiar's Scratch X, hoping that it would help hide the scratches. It is listed as a fine scratch and swirl remover. I paid $8.97 at my local Wal-Mart for a 7 ounce tube.
It is recommended a test patch be tried first. After your car has been washed, apply a small amount, on a recommended 100% cotton terry cloth, rub in, until scratch is eradicated. Then buff off with another clean cotton terry cloth. The manufacturer recommends their own clear coat car wax to further protect the restored finish.
As a single woman, in a body shop I'm an easy target. It would cost me several hundred dollars per repair, plus the inconvenience of being without my car and the price of a rental. The repair is not the same, but it's good enough for the price.
This product contains a small amount of compound, fills in scratches and even restores the shine. No bald patches were created for this repair. This project took under a half hour to complete (depending on humidity and size of damage), and saved me a small fortune.
My first repair is almost 2 years old, the repair hasn't faded and looks as good today, as the day I did the repair. The same goes with the second and third repairs.
This product has taken out most of the scratches on my car, and the ones left are very minimally visible. This product is not sold in colors, it works off the existing color of your car, not adding a new tone. This one tube can be used for all the cars at my home now. CHA-CHING!!!
