Pros:Beautiful, deep shine
The Bottom Line: Great wax if you want your car to be the best looking car in the neighborhood.
I've been a car nut for years. Ever since my dad taught me to drive in his 1969 Porsche Targa I've loved cars. Through the years I've owned several cars and I would love and pamper them whether or not they deserved it. For me, nothing looks as good as a freshly waxed car sitting in the driveway.

Since I've waxed so many cars I've had a chance to use many different products from many different manufacturers. I've used Zymol, Liquid Lustre, Meguiars, Mothers, Turtle Wax, and even some really high end carnauba waxes like Souveran, Dodo Juice, Concourse, and others that cost nearly $100 each.
I recently purchased a new car - my dream car. It needed a good wax job so my first task after taking it home was to pamper it. My wife bought me some Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 and I figured I'd give it a go on this car. The results were outstanding.
First off - some details from the Meguiars website:
NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 is a scientific breakthrough that introduces a new dimension of gloss and protection. This improved formula produces unbelievably deep, vibrant color and a dramatically clear wet-look. New Hydrophobic Polymer TechnologyTM provides relentless water beading and protection against oxidation, corrosion, UV rays and surface degradation. "Hydrophobic" means "water-fearing" and this new breakthrough technology builds such incredible protection and surface tension that water beads up and just glides off your paint finish, wash after wash!
Obviously the first step in any application of wax is to wash the car. Since I live in Arizona and have some of the hardest water on the planet I followed this up with a thorough rub down with a leather chamois. Then I noticed that the surface of the car was still rough so I used Meguiars Clay Bar to fully prepare the car for wax (you can see my review on that product on my home page). The clay bar removes all impurities from the car surface - tar, bugs, imbedded dirt, and all previous coats of wax. When this step was done I started waxing.
I have a method I always use for waxing the car. I start with the ‘top' areas (Hood, Roof, and Trunk Lid) then I work the sides followed by one more coat on the top. I figure the top of the car sees more wear and tear from rain, sun, etc. that it could use a little extra protection. This wax went on very easily. I do have a random orbit polisher but I only use it if I need to apply a coat of swirl reducing wax before the final coat of wax. In this case I didn't need it so I applied it by hand. It went on very easily - I put a small amount on my rag and buffed it onto the car using a circular pattern. It didn't take much product and didn't take much effort. The instructions recommended to let the product dry before buffing it off.
Removal was just as easy. I use a microfiber towel to make sure I pick up all traces of the wax then I go over the area a final time with another microfiber cloth just to ensure everything was polished smooth. The dried wax came up easily and required little to no extra buffing to make it flawless. The dried wax came up very easily and didn't discolor any of the chrome or plastic parts of the car saving me significant ‘clean-up' time afterwards. Overall, from start to finish, the whole process of waxing took me about an hour.
The results were truly outstanding! My car is a silver color (Liquid Desert Platinum according to Infiniti) and this wax brought out a depth of color and shine that was unbelievable. It also enhanced the metal flake in the paint making this car really shine and sparkle. Since there are no cleaners in this product you can easily add two or three coats of wax to further enhance the shine and sparkle. When I was all done the surface of the car was mirror smooth and reflected perfectly - not a blemish or a haze mark anywhere! It honestly looked like the car had been dipped in liquid metal. I've only seen results like this in some of the super high end car waxes I've purchased from specialty outlets for $100.
Well, I've only had this product on the car for two weeks so it is hard for me to say how durable it will be in the long run. I will say that the day after I waxed the car it rained and the water beaded up and rolled off the car without any issues. That evening I used the chamois to dry the car again and the paint still looks perfect even after baking in the hot Arizona sun for a while. The paint still feels smooth and silky and looks pretty much like it did after I waxed it.
Well, even though I really liked this wax there are some downsides to it. First off is the price. While this is cheap compared to some of the all natural carnauba waxes I've purchased, it is pretty expensive for a lab created, polymer based wax. It is worth the cost in my opinion, but it could be a little less expensive. Secondly - even though the wax buffed off easily it left a lot of residue on the rag requiring me to shake the rag off often or grab a new rag. Again - not a major problem and part of this could be that I applied too much to start with - but still a little annoying. Lastly - shine. I know this may sound a little picky but the shine on this wax is a little cooler (color temperature) than I am used to. If you have a blue or black car this stuff would be perfect, but my silver car looked a little off. Not that it looked bad, it just looked off. The Souveran carnauba wax I've used on my other silver car was a little warmer and suited that car better. I know - it sounds picky but honestly the wax was so good it was difficult for me to find anything wrong with it!
I simply love this wax. If durability is even half of what Meguiars claims it will be this wax is a bargain for those of you who love to pamper your car and make it the best looking car on the block. I've always liked Meguiars products and this is one of the best products I've seen from them yet. Keep up the good work!!
