Attain Shakes
If you're looking to compare the Attain shakes with a product you're familiar with, it would be Slim-Fast shakes. Attain shakes is a meal-replacement drink, packed with nutrition to keep you going on your sensible weight-loss plan.
Available Flavors
Attain shakes don't give you as much selection as your store-bought Slim-Fast shakes, but the flavors they do offer are very good. Attain Shakes can be ordered in Rich Milk Chocolate, Creamy Vanilla, Chocolate Malt, and Strawberry Cream. My husband and I never bought the Strawberry Cream flavor, so I'm unable to comment on that particular type.
My favorite was the creamy vanilla. It is a rich vanilla flavor, not plain and boring like some vanillas can be. And the vanilla flavor is really easy to mix in other flavors. I'll get to that later.
Rich Milk Chocolate has an okay chocolate milk taste to it. Not too strong. It's yummy in its own right. However...
If you're looking for rich chocolate flavor, you want the Chocolate Malt. That's Tom's favorite flavor of the shakes. It's so chocolate-y, you'll hardly believe it's healthy for you. Put it in the blender with some ice, and you'll swear you're drinking a sinful chocolate milkshake.
Meal Replacement
The can suggests the following. For weight loss: Along with regular exercise, try Attain bar for breakfast, for lunch, then eat a balanced dinner. For weight maintenance: Just replace one meal a day with an Attain shake and eat sensibly for the rest of the day.
Again, I don't use Attain for weight loss, but for added nutrition in my diet. If I'm craving a milkshake, I can mix up an Attain shake to satisfy my sweet tooth and get some of those vitamins and minerals I'm not getting from the foods I eat.
My husband, however, has used Attain bars and shakes in his own self-styled weight loss program. He would have an Attain shake (or bar) and a piece of fruit or small bowl of cereal for two of his meals each day. (Attain itself just didn't fill his stomach.) Then he would have a sensible dinner. He was able to lose 20 pounds in just about 6 weeks.

And then some!
So you've got great taste, all of that nutrition, PLUS 8 grams of soy protein per serving. And instead of paying for the shakes by can (like Slim-Fast), you save money by purchasing a canister of powdered shake mix. The canister contains 13 servings, which you can mix up with water, milk, or even frozen yogurt. And if you compare, Attain shakes have more nutrients with fewer fat and calories than other meal replacement shakes! The canister also informs you that it contains potent soy isoflavones, components of the soybean found to have significant health benefits. "Simple and complex carbohydrates supply real energy without the high-sugar content of other snacks." One canister retails through the catalog for $17.00. As a Preferred Cutomer, my cost is $11.89.
Yummy variations!
Because it comes in powder form, you can make your own Attain creations! I prefer to mix the powder with milk and ice in the blender for a refreshing and tasty milkshake. I've yet to try blending it with frozen yogurt or ice cream, but I can imagine it's even more delicious. And while you're blending, why not throw in some fresh fruit, some berries or some slices of banana, to mix in with your vanilla shake? (Or even your chocolate shake!)
You can purchase a special on-the-go shaker, as well. It's a clear plastic container with a green screw-on lid that has a flip-up straw. It's very handy. When he's got to go to work in the morning, Tom can throw in a scoop of the mix, some milk, screw on the lid, shake, and go! It's a nice little shaker. My only complaint is that there isn't a line for measuring the liquid. The scoop for the powder is its own measure, but you do have to pull out a liquid measuring cup to add the milk or water.
How do I get Attain shakes?
The biggest drawback. You can only order Attain shakes if you are enrolled as a Melaleuca customer. You can only become a Melaleuca customer by enrolling through a current Marketing Executive.
