User Rating: Excellent
Pros:Plenty of entertainment for my 17 month old son.
Cons:Can get a little loud, especially on wood floors.
The Bottom Line: This solidly built toy is loved by my son. Although a bit pricey for a push toy, you get what you pay for - a well built activity.
My 17 month old son has a pretty set routine each morning.... when he's ready to get out of his crib he'll stand up and whine until I get enough motivation to lift him out of his crib and put him on the ground. He'll then run/waddle out of his room into the play room, grab his Melissa & Doug Alligator Push Toy, and proceed to spend the first 10-15 minutes of the day pushing it back and forth on my wood floors. It's a good thing I love my son more than anything or this could have gotten real old, real fast!

Price and AvailabilityAlthough a bit on the pricey side, the Chomp and Clack Alligator is easily found at the classic toy stores such as Toys R Us or KB Toys. Amazon.com and other online supplies also carry and stock this and other Melissa & Doug toys. Most prices I've seen are in the $28-35 range.
AssemblyA minimal amount of assembly is required to attach the handle.
Theory of UseThe principle of the Comp and Clack Alligator Push Toy is simple - my son holds onto the elevated handle bar (which comes up to about his waist) and pushes the toy forward. As the wheels turn it moves four alligator heads up and down making a clacking sound as it rolls.
Entertainment Factor & Age RangeAs I indicated, my 17 month old has a blast pushing this around the house. He first began using this as it was intended when he was about 10 months - right when he first started walking and it has been on of his favorite toys on and off since then.
The Chomp and Clack Alligator works best on wood floors but can be used on carpet or outside on the pavement. The oversized wooden wheels have a thin rubber grommet around them which makes it a bit difficult to push on high carpets.
This is a solidly built boy make of solid wood which gives it a little weight - just enough to keep it doing what it should, but not heavy enough that my son can't lift it slightly to get around corners or turn around when he hits a wall.
