How can you not love this happy family of bears? The toy is like a combination of paper dolls and a puzzle.

A lid with the shape of a papa bear, a mama bear and a baby bear covers a box with three components that hold heads, torsos and legs for each bear shape. The forty five pieces (fifteen for each bear) are cleverly labeled with a circle, triangle or square on the back which makes sorting them an easy task. Outfits vary from the casual (demin anyone) to the seasonal (winter fun!).
Your child can create a series of matching, or hilariously clashing outfits for each bear by switching torsos and legs. The bear "heads" reveal a variety of emotions (happy, sad, angry etc).
While in part the toy is just pure fun, in the tradition of paper dolls, you can also "teach" your child by asking him or her to find the face for the bear that expresses various emtions. You can suggest that all the bears be dressed in "matching outfits." You can create an obviously discordant outfit and then ask you child to help you find the "right" top or bottom. You can ask your child to tell you what he or she thinks the bear is doing in each of the various outfits.
The only downside to this puzzle is that my kids invariably dump all the pieces out on the floor and with forty five in total, one always gets lost for a while.
