The calming sound of wind chimes in your living room

Written: Aug 13 '00
Pros:Quieter than most musical toys, helps learn to walk
Cons:none

My daughter is starting to walk now, and she enjoys using anything she can to help give her stability. Often times she will push anything she can get to move to help maneuver herself around the house. We have several push walker toys, the corn popper (also by fisher price) and recently we got her the Melody Push Chime.

The Melody Push Chime is a pushing toy, designed to make music as your child pushes or pulls it along. It works exactly as the Corn Popper does, but more quietly.

It features a yellow handle. The handle stands at about 29 inches tall so it is the perfect length/height for toddlers. At the bottom on the handle is the roller bar. The roller is blue and it has pictures of animals playing musical instruments on it. Either end of the roller has a bright red cap. Inside of the roller is where the chime noise is heard.

The chiming noise is produced when the roller is moved. The chiming sound is very similar to the noise produced from wind chimes although not as high pitched. Many pediatricians recommend placing chimes near babies, as they are known to soothe them. The chiming is not too loud and not annoying like many musical toys.

It is very easy to push. My daughter pushes it back and forth across our living room. When she gets to a wall she will often times stand there frustrated trying to push the wall out of her way. She does fall sometimes when she tries to push it on a noncarpeted surface, such as our linoleum kitchen floor. Although she has never hurt herself from such a fall, it does usually scare her a bit.

Since is longer rather than wide, the melody push chime stores very easily in a corner or in a closet. It is very durable, my daughter is constantly running into things with hers. With it being plastic, it wipes up easily for cleaning.

The Melody Push Chime is made by Fisher Price. In my home, Fisher Price is known for quality and durability. Although not as educational as most of my daughters toys, this can help toddlers when they are first learning to walk. The Melody Push Chime is yet another wonderful product of theirs that we will use for many years to come.
