Pros: looks cool, easy to operate, good idea
Cons: NOT waterproof, weird antenna, limited mounting options
The Bottom Line: It's a fun novelty to have but be careful with the water! I wasn't happy with the mounting options but you may have better luck.

| halah01's Full Review: Memorex MC1008 Personal CD Player |
When I bought the Memorex Shower CD/Stereo, It looked nice and sleek and seemed like it would be easy to mount and use. I had visions of singing in the shower with my favorite CDs and catching the morning news on the radio while I bathed without fear of electrical shock or ruining the radio with splashes. However, it turned out to be not as durable as I thought.
Out of the box it was simple to set up and work. 6 C batteries made it a bit heavy. It has a nice shape and the pop-on stand is perfect for sitting it on the edge of the tub or sink.
Reading the instructions I took note that it said WATER RESISTANT not PROOF. I had wanted something that I would not have to worry about if it got wet, I thought I would give it a try anyway. Since I couldn't pick up any radio stations without it, I attached the weird phone cord style antenna. It never said if the antenna was waterproof or not.
I had three options for mounting. A metal "over-the-door" type attachment that wasn't wide enough to fit over my shower door. A permanent wall mount with screws but I wasn't ready to drill holes for it. I finally settled for the longer metal shower-head hanger. Since I had a shower caddy already hanging from my shower-head I ended up hanging the CD player from the caddy. Suction cup mount, or a more flexible hanger would have been nice.
I stretched the weird antenna thing up my shower caddy and got ready for my first shower singing performance. The sound was good, the buttons easy to push with wet fingers, and the display easy to see. It did get splashed quite a bit but seemed to play on. I loved it! I toweled it off when I got out and warned my husband to do the same (but he didn't). About the third time I used it, it acted weird. The CD was stuck on one track and none of the buttons would work. I finally had to take it out dry it off and remove the batteries to stop the music. I was so worried the water had ruined it! I started blaming my husband for not drying it off, but cooler heads prevailed and we let it dry out overnight. Thankfully it worked fine the next morning, however I haven't taken it back in the shower since.
I'm looking into another way to mount it in the shower but out of the way of the water. I don't want to drill holes so I may be using some heavy duty suction cups or Velcro. Until then my dreams of singing in the shower are on hold, I'm no good a cappella!
