My eleven year old cat named Dusty loves Meow Mix Original cat food. I have to hide the bag of food or store it in plastic container to prevent Dusty from eating through the bag. I have always enjoyed the commercial about the "cat" that asks for this product by name. I have read another review where another writer even went so far as to taste the different flavors in this product, but I must pass on doing that.

I do like the fact that there is an expiration date on the bottom of the back of the bag. This ensures me that the product will be fresh when I give it to my best buddy. The four flavors that come in this bag are chicken, turkey, salmon and oceanfish. They come in small morsel bites that are easy for Dusty to chew. Although I give Dusty other brands of cat food, I feel that he needs a variety in his diet just like I do. The recommended feeding is below:

5-9lbs. give 1/2 to 1 cup daily

10-14lbs. give 1 to 1-1/4 cups daily

If you are giving this product to a kitten, and they are three to four weeks of age, then you should make sure the Meow Mix is moistened and keep it available at all times since kittens tend to nibble at solid food. If you add water, it should be one part warm, never hot, water to three parts Meow Mix. Usually after the kitten is six to eight weeks of age, you can wean them to the dry mix. Make sure the moistened kitten food is fresh by changing it frequently. I would probably change it at least every four to six hours.

As with any cat food, please make sure you have plenty of fresh water available for your pet. If you are going to change your pet from one brand of food to another, you should gradually introduce the new food by substituting small amounts of the new food for the old food. Then you gradually increase the new food over a seven to ten day period.

Just by reading the ingredients, this product sounds like it is more nutritious than the junk food that I eat! I do think that this brand of cat food is more expensive than the generic brand, but I like the fact that Dusty enjoys eating it and it does not have a very strong odor as other cat foods may have. I would definitely recommend this brand of cat food since I think it is a high quality product filled with many vitamins and minerals. I would also like to remind all pet owners how important it is to take our little "buddies" for their annual check-up or as needed.
