den_inte_dod's Full Review: Mezco Attack Of The Living Dead Series 1 > Hellen ...
If you haven't noticed by my avatar, I'm a big zombie-lover. In the past few years, I've been collecting many different items that depict zombies and the living dead/undead. May sound a little on the morbid side, but come on! These things won't do you any harm, they just want a little of your flesh!
When I came across this Mezco zombie action figure with detailed, plastic human body parts included, I knew I was going to snatch it as long as the price tag wasn't too crazy. Turns out, it was on clearance for only $5.99! This zombie action figure looks so realistic, I simply had to make room for it on one of my shelves! The figure is supposed to be a girl zombie named Hellen, and she comes with a male victim that has been ripped in half! Brutal! I also spotted some other Mezco brand zombie action figures, they weren't on clearance, so I waited a little while to purchase them.
Apparently, Helen the zombie was only a part of series 1 of the Attack of the Living Dead action figures, so I'm hoping that soon (this Halloween, perhaps?) they will release another series. Hellen can really give your friends and family a fright, with the plastic pool of blood surrounding her and the victim that has already been half eaten. Hellen isn't fully clothed, so this action figure isn't really made for small children! It has some pretty graphic, gory content, but nothing that I wouldn't be able to handle!
Hellen the zombie has an old, raggedy grey skirt that is covered in blood and gore. The skirt can be removed, but I believe it adds a lot more detail to the scene, so I like to keep it on. She has a sinister smile that makes it look like she's having a wonderful time tearing her victim apart limb from limb. Her eyes have no pupils, so it gives her that demonic appearance that zombies usually have in modern day horror films. In fact, Hellen could pass as a character in the latest Mortal Kombat game, if you ask me. She has very pale, wrinkly skin, which makes her look as if she hasn't seen the sunlight in years. After all, she is a zombie! Her hair is black with a few grey streaks, and it looks as if it hasn't ever been washed. Her joints are very easy to move and twist, and you can pose her in thousands of different ways.
For example, you can hover Hellen over the green, rotted, victim, and there you have it: a great big horrifying zombie scene! Her head can only move from left to right, but that's okay, since it would look a little odd if it could do a full 360 spin (Exorcist, anyone?). Hellen's victim is also short of one eye to make the scene more realistic, and his gnawed off foot is included in the package.
There are 3 small parts in this package other than the top half of Hellen's victim that can easily be misplaced, and they are the severed foot, the removable pool of blood, and the guts. When moving them around for the ideal zombie scene, be careful not to drop one in a hard-to-reach area, because they can be tough to retrieve. They intestines are made of plastic, which is fine with me, but I kind of wish they would have a squishy texture to really bring the scene to life!
Mezco did a fine job of making a killer zombie scene with this toy. It can be tough to find in stores, but it's a piece of cake to find online, along with the rest of the action figures in the first series. Hellen the zombie is one of the most sinister, evil looking action figures I've ever seen, so if it seems like something you would be interested in, buy it!
