| saulsse's Full Review: Michelin HydroEdge Tire |
I purchased the Michelin HydroEdge tires to replace the poorer quality Original Equipment Tires (OEM) that came on my 2007 Nissan Versa.
Let there be no mistake, the ride difference is very remarkable. A problem I had observed with the OEM tires was that they would "hunt" for roadway grooving making the car feel like it was swaying on its own. That can be disconcerting at highway speeds.
The Michelin HydroEdge which some have referred to being as loud and noisy tires are anything but on the Nissan Versa. Well behaved, the tires did not do any groove hunting as the previous tires did and were rock steady on pavement and gravel.
Tight and firm on the roadway, the Michelin HydroEdge tires in addition to their superior traction abilities in both wet and dry weather have a 90,000 mile warranty, making it conceivable that the owner of the car if he or she has bought the car new, will never have to buy another set of tires for the car again; that is of course if they sell or trade the car before the tires wear out.
The Cons. If installed onto a Tire Pressure Monitor System equipped vehicle (TPMS) advise the installer to follow the vehicle inflation guidelines. This user discovered that the TPMS on his 2007 Nissan Versa would trigger an alarm at just under 31 PSI. I had the tires inflate to 35 PSI which seems to make them ride well.
Side benefits of the Michelin tires is if registered with Michelin tire directly, one will receive two year road service at no charge.
Only other con could likely be the price, since I did not experience any out-of-balance or other vibration problems noted by other reviewers.
The recommended rotation mileage (swapping from front to back and back to front) is 5,000. Michelin will send you reminders by email when based on the mileage that you have reported to the Michelin website is reached.
