| ziprz's Full Review: Michelob |
Michelob Light from a bottle is why God invented beer. There is nothing unlikeable about this beer. It starts with a bottle that evokes the old Coke Bottle shape. Comfortable to the grip and handy when you're doing those 12 oz. curls. This is one of the reasons I personally drink this beer straight from the bottle always.
The flavor of this beer can best be described as balanced. Much less bitter than a ButtWeiser, much more full bodied than a Coors. Another way to describe Michelob Light is that it just "exists" in your mouth. It's like having a Pepsi. It is not there to do anything special, It's just there when you want to have a beverage. This beer doesn't fill you up, which is also a big plus. Now, I'm not trying to downplay how good this beer tastes. I personally found that this was the least punishing brew when I first started developing a liking for beer. Now I look for it in bars and stores when I want a taste I can trust.
I'm beginning to formulate a theory that all beers fall into categories outside of your normal "ambers", "darks", "lights", etc. For me, Michelob Light falls into the "upper middle class" of beers. It isn't your everyday drinker because it is just a little too pricey to be so. It is the perfect beer to serve at a house party, notice I didn't say frat party (see my Natty Light opinion if that's what you're looking for). It goes very well with any kind of Hor's D'eouvres or snack food, and it'll round out a pizza very well.
This beer is not a "destination" in it's own right. It is there when you need it, and it won't bite you back.
