Pros: You'll have no trouble finding it if you like it.
Cons: Weak, watery swill.
The Bottom Line: It's supposed to be an expensive, "craft beer." It's not.

| stinky138's Full Review: Michelob Amber Bock |
An old friend of mine came to town today, and we headed out to have a couple of beers. So, off we went to Hooters. While that provided the backdrop for much hedonism and carrying on in our youth, we simply had lunch and some beer today and kicked back.
The visually-striking, top-heavy Hooters waitress asked me what I wanted to drink. I told her I wanted a dark beer that was on tap. She said Michelob Amber Bock was plenty dark, but it wasn't very popular.
"Are you sure?" she asked.
"Yes," I replied. "I'd like to try it."
"Well, okay. A lot of people hate this stuff."
So, off went the well-intentioned waitress. Back she came with a pint of Amber Bock. I gave it a sip. I should have followed here advice.
Amber Bock isn't bad beer. It's just thin and watery beer with very little flavor. It tastes vaguely malty, a little bit sweet and that's it. When I was a kid, I once stuck my tongue on a rusty pipe. The taste was sweet, but there wasn't much else to it. Amber Bock reminded me a lot of that rusty pipe.
This beer is just as ordinary as it gets, for the most part. This is supposed to be a flavorful, hearty beer that will tempt those who like the output of small, craft breweries. It fails miserably. It's dark. That looks good. It has a thin, creamy head. That looks good. The flavor is lacking in any distinctive character. That's bad.
This beer is one of those "conveyor belt" things that's aged quickly and made with cheap ingredients. Don't be fooled. This isn't a sophisticated, expensive beer -- it's another factory product that tastes okay, but not great.
I kind of wish my friend and I had gone to Hooters and carried on like we did in the old days. Maybe I would have gotten drunk enough for Amber Bock to actually taste good. Today, though, this just tasted watery, runny and generic.
