| gvepinions's Full Review: Micro Solutions Backpack CD-RW Burner |
I bought my Microsolutions Backpack Triple Play CD-RW 193250 about 3 years ago for the huge sum of (CAN.)$500 after having had a bad experience with another store-bought external CD-RW.
I have *NEVER* had a coaster caused by this unit - I've had a few which have been my fault, but never with the unit. And even then, under 20 coasters in 3 years of burning literally hundreds of discs is O.K. by me.
I also have been working the unit twice as hard as anticipated because the CD-ROM in my laptop is not capable of Digital Audio Extraction, so I have had to use the Backpack to both read the disc (extracting the audio), and to burn the CD.
I have used the Backpack with both my old desktop (via the parallel port), and with my laptop, via the PC-Card. Never a problem.
I was particularly impressed that when I 'phoned Microsolutions to research the unit I was put through to someone who was not only friendly and helpful, but who knew the technical specifications of the unit inside out.
Despite having bought a new laptop, I eschewed the opportunity of having an internal DVD burner because I intend to buy an external Microsolutions DVD burner; once again, I have been in contact with the company, and based on my previous wholley positive experience with the Triple Play CD-RW and with Microsolutions' staff, I am confident that the DVD burner will provide me with the same flawless service that the CD-RW has.
I wouldn't recommend any other CD-RW because I haven't heard of one other CD burner - internal or external - that has provided the same flawless, 100% perfect performance that I have enjoyed with the Triple Play 193250.
The unit itself is very sturdy - the tray does not waver as is the case with some other units. The software works well.
There is nothing that I dislike about the unit, and it has been worth every penny; the reliability makes it worth the money.
