Is creatine monohydrate just another fad? Is it worth all the hype people make it out to be? Let me tell you my opinion about this growing supplement. Creatine monohydrate has been confirmed by numerous peer-reviewed articles published in various scholastic journals to be an effective way to inmprove muscular performance. The benefits of creatine are an increase in muscle size, quicker recuperation between sets (weight-training), quicker recovery, and increased protein synthesis. Some individuals to tend to cramp when supplementing with creatine due to adequate water intake. It is very important for anyone who takes creatine...DRINK MORE WATER!!! The reason why is because creatine acts as cell volumizer. When creatine gets shuttled into the muscle tissue it brings along with it water which is why you get a noticeable increase in muscle size (hypertrophy). When you do not get enough water, you start to cramp and your creatine is useless. When used correctly, creatine can help increase strength output in the gym, track, or any sport you play that involves quick bursts of energy. I do not know if creatine really benefits high-endurance athletes because creatine fuels the ATP-PCr bioenergetic system in the human body (this is the energy system used for short bouts of anaerobic intense exercise like weight-lifting, sprinting, jumping, swinging a bat, etc.) With high-endurance athletes, the bioenergetic system is different. The system used in the aerobic system. If there is any knowledge of such creatine to help runners or any long-distance athlete please let me know. I would be interested to see how it would work.
