Pros: More energy in reps. Even if it is only psychological, it did help a lot.
Cons: Noticed some bloating, but it did make me look more muscular.

| athelms's Full Review: Met Rx Micronized Creatine By Met-Rx |
First off, I'd like to state that sports supplements should not be used by weightlifters who are still new to lifting. Beginners should only be concentrating on form and technique, not on a supplemental product. There are no shortcuts in weightlifting.
I began taking Met-RX Micronized Creatine in Sept '00. The benefits are that it is supposedly easier on the stomach and gets to the muscles more quickly since the particles are smaller than average. I took it for about a month, following the directions on the label (5gs twice a day for the first week followed by 5gs once a day during the following weeks). The first week is considered to be a "loading phase" where your body adapts to the extra creatine. I stopped using it a month after I began since I was taking it everyday except Sundays and was concerned about any side effects that might pop up (even though I never saw any). I mixed it with fruit juice and drank it about a half hour before I worked out (don't mix it with OJ--citric acid destroys the creatine molecules).
My lifts seemed to improve about three days into the loading phase. I had the extra energy needed to complete a few more reps in each set. I got over my bench press plateau of 185x8 (which I had been stuck on for about 6 months) and began repping 205x8. This was my most obvious achievement. Unfortunately, I am unable to determine whether it was the actual creatine that helped me or the mind-set the supplement gave me which led me to believe that I could lift more. Keep in mind that weightlifting is about 55% in the mind (some may say more). However, the next time I start using creatine, I will take more during the loading phase and perhaps use it for two months straight.
