The Deciding Factors
I've found that after taking a week or two off of exercising, all the muscle gained from excercising would be lost. Having never used a creatine product before, I wanted to know whether creatine had any side effects. Since I couldn't find any, and there was no side effect labels on the bottles, I decided to check out what was being offered at the drug store. It was hard for me to choose from the various brands being offered at the drug store. I chose Meta-Rx Micronized Creatine simply because it was on sale.
Keeping the Muscle
Meta-Rx's creatine looks almost like chalk powder but has no taste. It's pretty easy to mix, dissolving in cold or hot water with slight stirring. Sometimes there's this white foam that appears when I mix it with hot chocolate. For the first week, I experienced extreme thirst when waking up and also in the afternoons. After that, such symptoms were less visible because the instructions said to reduce the serving size after the muscles were saturated. Another symptom I'm not quite sure has to do with the micronized creatine was that my hair started to grow at a enormous pace. Where I needed a haircut every 2-3 weeks before, almost in a week I'd reach that amount of hair. I'm not quite sure how creatine works but in a week I was able to lengthen my excercises because I didn't get tired or as sore in the mornings. Creatine has worked for increasing muscle mass when complemented with exercise.
Final words
If you're more concerned about side effects, I suggest that you research creatine more. It is a little disconcerting that we turn towards "chemicals" to enhance our bodies but I do suggest that you give Meta-Rx's creatine or any other a try and see for yourself whether it works or not.
