Pros: Helps relieve wrist, elbow and finger fatigue from long hours spent typing.
Cons: If you like keyboards with mice on them, I didn't see that version available (yet).

| MoonBeam1965's Full Review: Microsoft Natural Pro (B61-00002) Keyboard |
Recently we bought a brand new computer. It came with a nice
keyboard, but I wanted an ergonomic one because I'd already
had a generic one and loved it.
I went to Best Buy (in BelAir, Maryland) to purchase the computer
and found this nice little keyboard waiting to be sold. I
chose the pro because it was on sale. It was open for some
reason so it was $10.00 cheaper and still covered under the
same purchase warranty.
I can't speak for the warranty because I opted for the extended
warranty on the whole system, purchased separate, but I can
speak for the keyboard itself.
For any who don't know already, an ergonomic keyboard is one
that has a "wave contour" to it that more naturally fits the
way our arms and hands would be normally. If you spend a lot
of time online as I do, and you're using the standard keyboards,
then I'm betting you're getting some wrist fatigue out of it.
The Microsoft Natural Pro will position your hands more
naturally and thus relieve that strain.
I used to get sore just from an hour or two of typing. I also
experienced pains in my fingers and shoulders. Since using
an ergonomic keyboard, this has been greatly reduced!
This particular keyboard has a row of round blue buttons above
the function keys which are programmable. I haven't actually
needed to do that yet. However the instructions seemed
resonably easy to follow and the help files that come with
the keyboard are user friendly.
There is a mute key for sound, a button programmed for
each of the following needs:
one for Back and one for forward
stop
refresh
search
favorites
webhome
mail
There is a button to turn volume up and one for down
pause/play
stop
previous track/next track
and a media key.
above the numeric keys there is a shortcut button to
"My Computer"
Calculator
and sleep.
I use the legs that tilt it up in the back, somehow it's more
comfortable for me that way. I love how easy it is to clean
up, though I haven't had to try to get down in the keys yet,
it is still reasonably brand new.
In addition to the arrows on the numeric keys, you also have
the four arrows beneath your usual insert/home/page up, etc.
keys. I like this because some of the games I play require
me to use the keyboard arrows and the mouse, and the ones
beneath the home key are less awkward to reach with my left
hand - while using mouse with right.
One more nifty thing it has is two extra usb ports built in
to the keyboard....from the back so any cords can go down
through the slot where the keyboard cable goes. This allows
a neater appearance on my already over-cluttered desk!
If you are tired of having your wrists ache while trying to
keep up with all your epinion, etc activity, get a Microsoft
Natural Pro. You won't regret it.
You might even pick up 15 or so words per minute when typing
like I did. I was fast before (95 wpm) but now I really fly
with a typing speed well over 105 wpm. For anyone who has
a lot of typing to do constantly, this can really come in
handy...after all....a minute saved is a minute you can spend
doing something you'd rather be doing!
Get the keyboard
great gift for teenagers and busy secretaries who are computer
bound. No need to cause more health risks when this keyboard
is not only available, but reasonably priced.
Enjoy!
