After enduring the most unstable and ill-conceived version of Windows (ME), I am happy to use Windows XP Home. It is faster, stable as a rock and more user friendly.

The biggest drawback is that it does not support some of the programs that were resident in the previous Windows ME.
Some can be upgraded with downloads, but many require the purchase of a replacement. Be aware that some hardware items will require a "patch" to operate and XP will tell which ones when installing. My 3 year old HP Pavilion had many time consuming "bugs" in software and hardware performance based on compatibility.
All things considered, it was all worth it. After installing XP, make sure all software purchased in the future has the XP logo.
