carl_lazarevic's Full Review: Microsoft Xbox 360 Core System White Console
We've reached a point now where the current contenders for chief consoles are soaring down in price, but still have a few years before their replacements arrive. Yet which one should you, the consumer, decide to get? That is up to you t decide, but in order to help you I've decided to review the current contenders in a way to show who would like what, because they each have their own advantages, depending on what you're looking for.
The X-Box is the console worlds muscle, strong, fast and impressive on a technical level. Not too bright though.
Space Saver?
If you happen to have a slab of concrete sitting around your living room then finding space for this wont be a problem. If you can't find that slab though, then this bad boy is huge!!! It's bigger than my VCR, and heavy too. Do not drop your X-Box, the force would be the same as a city sized Meteor, the world would never survive. Not the best space saver, as you would imagine, and storing it will require effort.1/5
Ease Of Use?
The original X-Box pad is absolutely huge, it's like playing videogames with a big mac, but thankfully Microsoft have re-released it in a smaller model. What can I say about this version? It's a Gamecube pad, but with a large D-Pad and easily accessible start/select buttons. Very very handy. 5/5
Power?
The X-Box is the Don Vito of the console world. It is the daddy, big powerful and knows how to throw a punch. Currently the most powerful console on the market, the X-Box is Bill Gates, the guy who does windows, attempt at a stripped down PC, and it comes with all of the power that concept promises. 5/5
Variety?
There's not that many X-Box games, but, like the Gamecube there's enough to last. Football games, Beat-em-Ups and Shoot-Em-Ups, even a few strategy games. That's a lot of variety, though there are only a select few childrens games. 4/5
Price?
$192.95 / £150 brand new, and used is around $135.00 / £76 which which makes it the most expensive console currently available. Still a massive drop in price though, but games are still $50 / £40 for the latest releases, and even older games are more expensive than other consoles. 3/5
Overall?
The X-Box is powerful, so who would I recommend it to? Men!!! We men are a shallow, superficial (I know, they mean the same thing) bunch, and we like our power. This is the console for us, stop trying to talk sense!!
This has been my entry into the Lean-N-Mean write-off.
