That's when it doesn't crash. I know someone that wasted the money on an xbox. I could see no difference between the so called "superior xbox" graphics and any recent game for the PS2. I agree with mookiekong. The Gamecube does have better graphics than the xbox and a whole different selection of games (think Rouge Squadron). The only advantage the xbox has is M$ bought Bungie (and with it Halo). Believe me within a year there should be versions of Halo for the pc and mac. So why spend money on an xbox when you can wait a while and save money?

Dood man, then tell me what a PS2 or a Gamecube is? What are they, lol I hope they are computers too. LOL.
When I got a PS2 for Christmas I cried. All I really wanted was a cheap SDRAM motherboard, a new 300w Enlight case, and an Athlon T-Bird 1.4ghz. But hell no.
I would've been more content w/ an XBOX. Ps2 has poor support for online gaming out of the box. I believe you can play through a 56k modem add on, OMG what a joke a smart person would think.
XBOX offers superior games and graphics at like the same exact price.
I think you're Asian by the way you look so that means you are biased towards Asian electronics and I believe you are a Unix guru, so you hate MS too, lol. J/k ;)
I like to ramble on without purpose sometimes.

"Yes, if I put together the top of the line machine including all the features I just listed it'll cost more than the $299 asking price of the Xbox. But in a year? Probably not. And in a year, I'll be able to upgrade my PC were-as the Xbox stays the same."
Try reading what's written before trying to shoot it down. I didn't say that you could build a PC like the XBox for under $300.
Also, I didn't say that the other's are not a PC -- I'm saying that the XBox will have most of the functionality of my home PC, why should I buy another?
"Xbox dashboard on top of a specialized win2k kernel." No matter what you call it, it's still Win2k. No matter what you say, they will be programming for DirectX -- and the selling point of the XBox for most developers is that if they develop for DirectX it'll be easily ported to the PC -- so why would I buy an XBox if I got me a home PC worth a few thousand dollars that will be able to play the same games when they are ported?

where to begin? no, Xbox does not run windows, it runs the Xbox dashboard on top of a specialized win2k kernel. win2k=300mb,kernel=500k, not the same thing. Every game console is a computer. This is why Dreamcast has a keyboard and you can send email with it. This is why PS2 will have a keyboard, hard drive, and will feature internet access through AOL. There is no such thing as a 350mhz GeForce3. The components you listed will not be available for purchase to create a PC for under $300 in a year. Anyone who read all this and believed it is now completely misinformed thanks to you.
