While the game makers might not be releasing that many titles for this platform anymore don't write it off from your list just yet! The Xbox has much potential that could be unlocked via a modchip and adding some special software on it and upgrading the hard drive if you want extra storage space. Xbox media center is the perfect tool for all of your digital media, the only con for that software is that the xbox hardware will not support High Definition playback.
If you are interested in playing games for the Xbox then it's great for playing games and if you haven't been under a rock for the past 5 years then you've probably heard of Halo which is a great game to start off your xbox collection with. If you are into modding your system there is a plethora of games available through emulators stretching way back to the good old arcade games all the way up to N64.
I also have a Playstation 2 but right now all that is doing is collecting dust, I use my Xbox everyday with the Xbox Media Center software and I have no regrets about purchasing it, I think I got a steal for it at $120 used for how often I use it.
