Pros: A clean room, a good bed and a hot shower for a bargain price.
Cons: TV was small and defective
Free breakfast 'bagel' was a roll with a hole.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an inexpensive and restful nights sleep, this is a great choice. Dont expect anything else.

| fritz_t_coyote's Full Review: Microtel Inn Rochester Victor Ny |
The Microtel Experience
Lets have a realistic look at what many travelers need in a room.
For most overnight stays, all I need is a bed, a bathroom, a TV and Maybe a little desk space and internet access.
Thats what Microtel delivers.
There is no pool, no gym, no room service. Just a clean room, a firm bed, and a place to hang your clothes.
food and drink
Victor Microtel is close to several chain eateries, ranging from Burger King to Houlihans.
There are also a couple of quickie-marts, chain stores, a K-Mart and and major shopping mall within a couple of miles. So whatever you need is easy to pick up.
There is a complimentary continental breakfast available in the morning, coffee, juice, and the usual assortments of pastries are available, along with fruit and one or two varieties of cold cereals. If thats not enough, there is a Denny's nearby.
Outside
The Victor Microtel is located just off of the I90/I490 interchange southeast of Rochester NY. It is in a nice rural/outer suburban neighborhood, with a well-lit parking lot... I saw no security concerns.
Hallways and common areas are clean, well maintained, and well-lit. There are vending and ice machines available.
room features
Remember your college dorm?
The rooms are small, dominated by the queen sized bed (see below).
There is a little worktable, a wardrobe (with an in-room safe, always a nice thing to have) and a couple of drawers.
Above the wardrobe is a small tv with basic cable and the usual PayPerView and Nintendo-by-the-hour options.
The last time I was there the no-name TV had a bad picture (colors were messed up, and there was no way to correct it), but was sufficient to let Saturday Night Live put me to sleep, and the Weather Channel to wake me up, and not annoying enough for me to want to change rooms.
Other facilities: a little desk big enough for my laptop... and not much else; a single basic chair, a padded window seat, free wireless internet, and a window that actually opens.
There is also a little alarm clock and a telephone. All of the basics.
The bathroom has very basic supplies: thin coarse towels, thin coarse paper, and a thin sliver of unbranded soap.
But everything was clean and functional, which was all I really wanted.
the bed
The bed makes it all worthwhile.... Firm, comfortable, clean sheets, comfy pillows... it dominates the room, and is, after all, the reason you are there.
Staff
The Staff is friendly, and helpful, to the extent of what is provided in this basic motel.
What is this an option to?
Bottom line: Microtel is a no-frills basic lodging, the Walmart of accomodations. It is far less expensive than 'full service' chain motels, and competes well against non-chain motels (where you never know what you may be getting...)
For the price of a cut-rate no-name, you get a clean room with a good bed and a nice hot shower, and a hotel-style interior corridor.
But don't expect to do much more then sleep here, and get up and on the road early tomorrow.
Goodnight.
