| Dionne25's Full Review: Midol Maximum Strength 80 Caplets Menstrual Formul... |
I never thought the day would come when I would be writing a review on pain relief for cramps, but, hey, it's here, so I figured I'd give it a go.
When it's that time of the month, everyone better run for cover, because I become a wild animal that's impossible to control!!! Just kidding. There are those days, however, when the pain is so unbearable, I'm not sure if I will be able to function.
Usually around the first day of my cycle, I get the worst cramps. There have been times when the pain has been so bad, I cannot get out of bed or I would have to leave work or school early. My cycle changes on me very frequently, so there are times when I can't prepare myself in advance for the unpleasant times.
Midol Maximum Strength to the rescue.
These little gelcaps are my best friend for at least five days. Nothing can come between my Midol and me. As I stated, on the first day of my cycle I get the worse cramps. On the mornings of that first day, I will take two gelcaps and the pain usually subsides 30 minutes to an hour later. I'm pretty much able to go on with the rest of my day. If the pain returns (which usually happens 8-10 hours later,) I'll take two more gelcaps, and I'm set for the day.
A couple of weeks ago, however, I experienced pain like no other. I was on call for duty as a resident advisor, and while I was doing my rounds, I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen. I could barely walk because with each step I took, it felt as if I was walking on nails. It was too early for my cycle, so I ruled that out. I also had not eaten that day, so that could have been a factor. I also did not want to go to the emergency room, so I took two Midol and went to bed. The next morning, the pain was gone and I was on top of the world. Then two days later, I had my period.
Aside from relieving my pain, I use Midol because they come in gelcaps. I hate to take pills, especially the aspirin types because they leave a bitter taste in my mouth. With Midol, I don't have to worry about making any weird faces as I take them. They just slide down my throat with ease. I guess my only problem with Midol is that sometimes it doesn't relieve my pain instantly. When the pain is gone, however, it's really gone. I'm like a new person.
As for side effects, I haven't experienced any. I don't get nauseated or woozy, which is a plus. There may be times when I get drowsy, but I don't think it has to do with the gelcaps. Just follow the directions on the carton, and don't exceed the suggested dosage. I usually only need to take about 4 pills within a 10 hour time period.
I love my Midol.
