With months leading up to the availability of buying a Xbox I checked out many different reviews on NHL Hitz 2002. They all were very favorable.
I now own the Xbox and the game and I agree, here is my review on NHL Hitz 2002:
The graphics are the best I have ever seen in any video game! The sound is also very good and the true to life hockey fans are extremely real in appearance
I really enjoyed the no rules 3 on 3, check, fight, score goals attitude that makes this game extremely fun!
One of the many excellent features of this game is the availability to unlock different rinks without trying to figure out codes, since the main menu makes it easy to choose the rinks you want to buy when you get the 500 points needed. Gaining points is not hard and you will soon find yourself in the Hockey Shop buying rinks, heads and jerseys. However, deciding on a rink that looks like a lot of fun was difficult since they all look like a lot of fun!
My first rink purchased was "HomeLand". This outdoor rink set in a winter wonderland on a pond, with fish swimming under the ice, was a graphical beauty.
With so many other graphical beauty rinks to choose from I found myself playing the game as much as I could to get more points so that I could check them all out. At the moment, I have nine unlocked and they are all just plain beautiful. A small regular hockey arena is your default rink to start with.
As far as the game goes you will not be disappointed by all of the fun you can have as long as you are not looking for a real hockey game with rules, If this is what you are looking for, save up your money for NHL 2002 (EA Sports) coming for the Xbox soon.
NHL Hitz 2002 is designed for the hockey lover who just wants to skate fast, check, fight and score in a 3 on 3 setting. Bone crushing checks are a blast to dish out and receive. Goaltenders that check you make your game controller vibrate so that you can feel the check at full force.
The controls are easy to learn and there is even an option to practice your skills whenever you wish.
Fighting is just plain fun. Punching, grabbing or headbutting and kneeing a player to the ice is a good way to pay back an opposing player that has been checking you a lot throughout the game. Better be a good fighter, lose a fight and that NHL player is out of the game however, the game will remain 3 on 3 as another player will fill the void.
Some of the awesome things you will see are: hard checks that knock helmets off players heads and remain on the ice until a stoppage of play, hard checks that send a player through the glass or over a bench, rinks that include outdoor snowy winter wonderland, graveyards with falling rain, Under the circus big top, shark tank, moon base, coast, disco nightclub and many more. All rinks go with the theme, for example the moon rink has green aliens as the fans and a green glowing puck and the outdoor western town has a horse shoe as the puck among other features.
I could go on and on about this game because everytime I play the game I see new things that take my breath away.
This game has all the fun you hoped a hockey game would come out with.
Buy this game! Even if your not a hockey fan you will have a blast playing it.
