Milk Bone Flavor Snacks
These are a variation on the familiar Milk Bone dog biscuits that have been sold for 100 years, since 1908, in fact.
The standard Milk Bone dog biscuit in the size for small dogs is a beige bone-shaped biscuit about 2 inches in length, and is made from wheat flour, milk, bone meal, as well as other ingredients, hence the name. My little Chihuahua, Fifi, really goes for the small sized Milk Bone dog biscuits. The Milk Bones are also available in medium and large size biscuits for various sized dogs.
The dog biscuits are hard and provide some resistance to the pooch as she crunches them up, much like a real bone. I like it that the treats are clean and do not crumble up and make a mess, nor does it have sauce on it that will come off and stain the carpet as you know that's the first place the dog takes it. The dog can eat the bone easily and she eats it all, something you can't always depend on with other treats.
The Flavor Snacks are very similar to the original biscuits - same size, same texture, same appearance, but they are made in five colors with presumably five flavors - red = bacon; brown = beef; whitish = chicken; tan = peanut butter; and green = vegetable flavor. I'll give you three guesses which type Fifi likes the least. Hint - she is a carnivore.
I usually keep a box or two of these small bones on hand, and dump them right in with the regular Milk Bones in the clear plastic bin I keep on the kitchen shelf. Fifi comes a-running when she hears me remove the lid.
The box of Milk Bone Flavor Snacks weighs 24 oz. There are dozens of biscuits per box and larger size boxes are available. Milk Bone claims the biscuits help control plaque and sweeten the dog's breath.
I give the dog about one or two of the little bones a day and she seems to quiver with joy, wagging her tail when she hears me open the bin. I typically pay a little less than $3.00 a box for these. It's very little to pay to keep Fifi happy.
