| Bryan_Carey's Full Review: Miller Genuine Draft 3001 |
Miller Genuine Draft is one of the better malt beverage products produced by the beer- producing branch of the Phillip Morris Company, also known as Miller Brewing Co. This beer has become a popular product in the Miller lineup. It replaced Miller High Life, shortly after it was introduced, as Miller's top selling non-light product.
This beer has a sweet, grainy aroma and a taste that starts out sweetish, then finishes somewhat dry but very smooth. There is very little hop bitterness to speak of. The taste reminds me of a mixture of corn and barley. Although Miller Brewing Co. claims that it is made from choice hops, I am curious just how much hops are used because you can only slightly taste them. The grain flavor is predominate throughout the drinking process, from the initial sip all the way to the aftertaste. The alcohol level is 4.9 percent by volume and there are 153 calories per 12oz serving.
With its easy drinkability and grainy character, Miller Genuine Draft would make a good complement to any traditional pub snack food, like pretzels, french fries, or potato chips. Anything with a high salt content would make a good match with this beer. But the most common buyers of Miller Genuine Draft are those who are just buying a round. It's just that type of beer- the type you buy when you're sitting in a sports bar with friends, watching a football game.
Miller Genuine Draft is a decent product. It is a good social beer; the type of beer that would be acceptable to most anyone if they were offered a bottle. It has no special qualities and nothing unusual or memorable, but it doesn't make you cringe, either. This is not, by any means, a classic beer product. It's just an ordinary American- style lager. I think it is better than any other product in the Miller lineup, a company that I do not praise very often.
To sum it all up, it is a safe, agreeable, everyday type of beer. The next time the round is on you, ask for Miller Genuine Draft. Most everyone in your group will be satisfied.
