Pros: Tastes good, cheap, makes a great boilermaker with rye.
Cons: Beer snobs will look down on you, some may not like the fuller taste.
The Bottom Line: Great "drinking" beer. It tastes good, and doesn't demand any more attention than you want to give it. A good lager.

| joseph06's Full Review: Miller High Life 2403b |
I don't "do" beer. I drink it, but even the finest brews around don't get me excited like a bottle of good scotch or even a nice dry gin martini. I don't really comprehend the finer points of "beer snobbery," so I won't go in to them here, but as far as lagers go, I think High Life is a pretty damn good beer. As a whiskey man, I'm a big fan of the boilermaker, and High Life is my standard beer back. Personally, I much prefer the taste of it in bottles to cans, and I think the bottles are kind of cool looking, especially with the girl in red on the neck label.
High Life is not quite as "crisp" as some of it's competitors, notably Pabst Blue Ribbon, which is in about the same price bracket. Of the mainstream, can buy at your local mini-mart beers go, I've found High Life to be the most full tasting, and the least watery. It has a full, malty taste, and is somewhat heavy, for a lager beer. It has a good head, and a vaguely dry finish. Of the major beers in the US, I would sooner take a pint of High Life over all of them, be it Budweiser, Coors, or Pabst. It's a nice, rich tasting beer, and more satisfying to me than any of the other major brews about. When I think "beer," this what I think of. The taste is sort of one dimensional, but most "American style lagers" are like that. High Life is a bit like a Coke, in the sense that you it's going to have a relatively simple flavor profile, and not wow you with complexity, but it's going to taste pretty good. If you want a microbrew, don't go here, but for a good beer that you can enjoy with friends and not break the bank buying, I think High Life is perfect.
