Miller High Life has been around for a long time. The Miller Brewing Co. was founded in 1855 and is now a wholly- owned subsidiary of the Phillip Morris Company and the second largest brewer in the United States. From the early days, all the way to the present day, it has been promoted as the blue- collar man's beer. It's the type of beer that you pop open after a long day of doing physical labor, working on the assembly line, working at the construction site, etc. These advertisements have obviously had an effect on me, because this is precisely what comes to mind when I think about Miller High Life and who would drink it.
High Life has a golden hue, a weak smell of sweetness and grain, and a taste that is mostly one of cereal grains, without much taste of hops. It does produce a good amount of foam that does last a little longer than other beers of similar style. The flavor is, overall, pretty weak, but not terrible. It rings in at 143 calories per 12 ounce serving.
This beer does not get the extensive advertising that is enjoyed by other Miller products. This hurts sales a bit, but it helps when it comes to price. Miller High Life is usually only about $3.49 per six pack, and only about 5.99 per twelve pack, making it one of the least expensive of the popular American lager- style beers.
While far from being a great beer product, Miller High Life is an acceptable beer. It isn't offensive, goes down easy, and won't leave your wallet high and dry. It is an agreeable beer, but not one worth seeking out.
