Pros: Fun, kids love it
I purchased the Milton Bradley Buckaroo Game from some one on Craigslist under the Rhode Island section. The woman charged me only $3.00 for the game and it was brand new sealed in the box when I bought it. I got it cheap since I purchased several other items from the same woman at the time. I made the purchase because the game sounded like fun and my five year old daughter had a sleep over coming up, so I thought playing this game would be fun for the girls.
I was certainly right. After reading the instructions to the girls they played the first game. Mid way through the game they were laughing and having fun with it. The first time it bucked the cracked up laughing and I had all to do to get them to stop playing and go to bed that night. They even ended up getting up early and playing it a few more times before the other girls had to go back home. My daughter was thrilled with it and it made her sleep over a lot more fun then it would have been to begin with.
The Milton Bradley Buckaroo Game is meant for children ages four years old and over. It is not recommended that any child under the age of four play with this game. This is due to the small parts. The small parts could be choked on by a small child. The age recommendation is on the out side of the box on the side left hand corner. The choking warning is also in the instruction booklet.
To play the game you set the donkey on his stand. You do so by sliding the plastic together on the bottom of the base. Then just his back legs will be free. You then push his legs in the back down to the base. Once you hear it click in place push the tail down and he is ready to put the saddle on. Place the saddle over him, then the plastic piece with the pegs sticking out of it goes on top of it using the holes below it.
From that point you choose the level easy, medium or hard. The button is located on the side of him and you simply slide it to one, two or three. One is easy, two is medium, three is the hard one. It is better to start at level one till they children get the hang of placing the pieces on to it. Each child takes a turn and continues till some one makes him buck his legs.
The youngest child goes first. He or she does so by taking any piece they want and placing it on to any peg they choose. Such as my daughter took the shovel and placed it on the peg. She was the youngest at 5 years old. All the rest of the girls are six years old. If you have all six year olds or what ever age and they are the same age. You should do as I did and choose order by birth month. I made the 6 year olds go in order too which person had the birth day in the the first month, second, third and so on.
The pieces are a shovel, a bag, cow boy hats and more. They are all plastic and not very heavy. But once they are placed on the donkey they do create tension which causes him to buck. There is a button sticking off his back under the pegs. The simple touch of your hand could set it off if you apply to much pressure. So you could have a loser at the start or end of the game. This makes it a lot of fun.
When he bucks. The donkey tosses all of the pieces off of his back and the kids have to get them and start again. So far my daughter's friends have asked to play this game every time they have come over since the sleep over. The game must be on a flat surface by the way. And also you may want to block your ears if you do not like noise because if you play on a table the way that we did the pieces will clunk on the table as they come down after the donkey tosses them upward.
The Milton Bradley Buckaroo Game is a lot of fun. The kids all love it and it is also great as a family game. I have played it with my daughter a few times and we do have a lot of fun with it together. I am very glad that I made the purchase, and even happier that I got such a great bargain on it.
