Pros: Small size, ease of use, very good quality snapshots.
Cons: Fiddly menu system to weed through (as is true of all digital cameras). Battery life.
The Bottom Line: All things considered, this camera is a joy to own, for those who enjoy portability, ease of use, and excellent snapshot-quality photography.

| opine001's Full Review: Konica Minolta DiMAGE Xi Digital Camera |
As with any "thing", first and foremost, it must be judged based upon its intended purpose. To use an analogy, one wouldn't judge a pickup truck for how well it races along a mountain road. That's not what it was built for, nor what it specializes in.
Based on my one-month's use, The Minolta Xi is an excellent snapshot camera. The small size (and a handy belt-mount case) makes it as handy to carry along as a small cell phone. The 3.2 megapixels produces great quality photos. The fast recycle time is nice too (I've also used the Minolta X, which is slower, and found the lag time annoying). Battery life isn't great, but it's enough to get through a day, especially if you conserve it (e.g., turn off the LCD display). And compared to other digital cameras, it's one of the easiest to use.
So, while it probably isn't suited to the "serious amateur", it is ideally suited to those who want to travel light, not fiddle with complexity, and have very good quality snapshots.
