phototazz's Full Review: Konica Minolta Maxxum 300si Film Camera
An "entry level" beginner/amateur camera, it does what its' supposed to do well, make taking pictures fun and easy. I recommend this to anyone who wants to start someone else off in photography, and not scare the daylights out of them with an extremely advanced setup.
The camera has basic controls for flash, red eye reduction, self timer, single frame or continuos, manual or autofocus button, along with 5 preset modes that have become quite common. The camera is small, lightweight, and fun to hold and use.
Built in flash is handy, but will chew up your battery.
If you want a boat load of features and flexibility, move up a few notches to a 500si or Maxxum 5, but spend about twice as much. This is meant for beginners and amateurs, and is a great way to get someone involved in taking pictures, without their needing extensive photographic knowledge.
This camera rates above average versus other cameras in its price range and features.
