I started using Miracle Gro late in the game - you know, after dozens of sickly plants, barren gardens and pitiful blooms. I knew my gardens were failures, but I didn't know why. I came from the old "organic gardening" school, meaning I believed that all a garden needed was good soil, bright sunshine, and fresh rain.
But my gardens never really amounted to much. My flowers bloomed poorly, my tomatoes produced a few small fruits. I had no idea what the missing ingredient was.
Not expecting much, I dropped $5.49 on a medium box of Miracle Gro. The first season I used it, I knew I had figured out one of the "secrets" of gardening. Whether your soil is good or not, plants benefit from good fertilizer.
I had eight tomato plants that year, and produced so many tomatoes that I gave a bunch away.
Since then, I have used Miracle Gro on all of my plants. I have some Mimosa trees that I started from seeds, and once they hit 6 inches tall, I began to use Miracle Gro on them, using the weaker mixture for indoors plants, of course.
Miracle Gro is easy to use. The instructions on the box are just about fool proof, and they include a measuring spoon, with cups for both indoor and outdoor mixtures. The inclusion of the spoon is really convenient, alot of the other products I've used don't have one, and that leaves you to guess.
It does cost a little more than some of it's competitors, but the savings aren't much when weighed against the price of the plants.
Be sure to read the box, and measure carefully. And DON'T overfertilize. It is easy to get carried away once you see the results, and assume "more is better." It isn't.
This is a great product! No garden should be without it, as far as I'm concerned.
