You are right, these don't make a very romantic gift. Practical items usually don't. Bet you won't make that mistake again. Thanks for R/R/C!

I feel that these pans are well worth the cost. I don't expect an inexpensive set of pans to last forever, however my mother has gotten at least 5-6 years of use out of the same set. Since I always handwash these pans, and use only approved utensils, I expect that I will get the same from them. Thanks for R/R/C!

The following update has been added to my review after having used these pans for a couple of weeks now:

I've been using mm pans regularly for a couple of weeks now, and my Mom's have had about 5-6 years of regular use. I often help her with dinner when we visit, so I have used her pans quite a bit.

With proper care, her pans have held up nicely to regular use. I think the trick is to not use the dishwasher to clean them. I know that many people throw them in with the rest of the dishes, but this will ruin the non-stick surface after a while.

I know it is way past the deadline, and I'm trying to get a Van Halen karaoke CD added to the database. I thought about posting it under the general music section, but didn't want to get bombarded with OTs so I guess I'll wait and see if it gets added or not.
Thanks for R/R/C!

Pots 'n pans--Very Helpful, but not for romance! (Reply to this comment)
by brett_w
I remember my wife's reaction when, early in our marriage, I bought her a new set of pots and pans for a main Christmas gift. Eww...something of a mistake on my part! She is more the romantic sort, so I should have saved the practical purchaces for another, none gift-exchanging time. Learned a lesson there.
I thought this was a really great review.
Hope things are going well with Hemi!

This set was given to me by my mother and was the first set of pans I had when I moved into an apartment in college some years back. They lasted only a few years, so I personally wouldn't actually recommend them to anyone that cooks a lot or is an advanced cook. :-)

I hope they work better for you in the long run than they did for me. Enjoy!

No problem, I will be updating after a bit more use anyway. For anyone interested though, I have only had my set of pans for a short time, but have used my Mom's set. She has had hers for several years now, and still no problems.
Thanks for R/R/C!

I must look like an ogre with my rating amongst all the VH's but the reason I rated it so, was that you really (as you stated) have not used them much yet. I would think your review might differ after more use. If you would like to email me after you have used them awhile and you update, I'd be happy to come back and give it the VH it deserves.

That's true, overheating does terrible things to nonstick pans. Thanks for R/R/C!

Wise Words Indeed... (Reply to this comment)

"These pans, like any nonstick pans can emit fumes if left unattended and extremely overheated. These fumes can be deadly to birds. It is best to keep your birds away from the kitchen and always provide good ventilation for your birds.
"
- it's also fun when the non-stick coating starts peeling off every time you wash the pans up if you've accidentally over-heated them!

Nice review and a very worthwhile word of caution.

Cheers Kelly!

Actually, my Mom has a set of these that she has been using for a few years now and is still very happy with them. I will be updating this later on to let everyone know how satisfied I am with them after a bit more use though.

Hope you also had a Happy Mother's Day, and thanks for R/R/C!
